Pensions Dashboards Programme (PDP) appoints Digidentity as its interim identity service supplier

On February 1, 2022, the Pensions Dashboards Programme (PDP) signed a contract with Digidentity to deliver the interim identity service, part of the central digital architecture that will drive pensions dashboards.
This marks another significant milestone for PDP, as it completes the procurement of the major elements of the central digital architecture. PDP will work to integrate the identity service supplied by Digidentity, with the rest of the digital architecture (supplied by Capgemini with Origo) during the coming weeks, in line with our programme timeline.
PDP is delighted to award the contract to Digidentity, a well-respected operator within the identity verification sector. The contract will run for two years, with the interim identity service operational during PDP’s test phases.
Industry engagement
Identity verification is an important part of protecting both pension providers and future dashboard users, by ensuring that people really are who they say they are. Only individuals that have had their identity confirmed by the identity service will be able to view their pensions information via dashboards.
The procurement took place via G-Cloud 12, following an extensive period of engagement to shape the development of the technical requirements for the identity service. This included several calls for input and working with the government and the identity industry to determine the best approach.
Ultimately, PDP intends to deliver an identity service under the forthcoming government-backed UK digital identity and attribute trust framework, once it is available. The Digidentity service will operate during our initial test phases.

The Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) has established the Pensions Dashboards Programme team, led by Principal Chris Curry, to design and implement the ecosystem that will make pensions dashboards work and which will enable individuals to view all their pensions data via their chosen dashboard. Pensions dashboards will enable individuals to access their pensions information online, securely and all in one place, thereby supporting better planning for retirement and growing financial wellbeing. MaPS’ role in developing pensions dashboards
Government has committed to facilitating the pensions industry to develop this initiative and have given specific responsibilities to the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) which include:
- Bringing together a programme team to lead the implementation of pensions dashboards
- Appointing an industry steering group to set the strategic direction of the programme
- Beginning work to create and run a non-commercial pensions dashboard – the MaPS Dashboard.
