The Pensions Dashboards Programme (PDP) commissioned Ipsos to conduct secondary analysis of Wealth and Assets Survey data from the Office for National Statistics. This data describes the numbers and types of private (non-State) pensions held by the population of Great Britain between 2014 and 2020.

Analysis of the Wealth and Assets Survey shows that an increasing number of people have at least one private pension. The biggest increases in pension holding has been among those aged under 35. Yet people on the lowest incomes are the least likely to hold a private pension, running the risk that they will not have a secure income after they retire.

Pensions dashboards will allow people to see their pensions together in one place and what their estimated retirement income could be. They will enable people to make more informed decisions about how much they are saving for when they finish work.
